Joining Cub Scout Pack 1601

Get ready for fun and adventure! Boys have a blast participating in fun activities that teach honesty, bravery, and respect for others and the environment. Parents get support from a program that strengthens character, develops citizenship and enhances mental and physical fitness. Come join the excitement of Cub Scout Pack 1601!

Cub Scouts are for boys in 1st through 5th grade:
~ 1st graders join the Tiger Cub den   ~3rd graders join the Bear den
~ 2nd graders join the Wolf den        ~4th and 5th graders join the Webelos

Scouts have the opportunity to make friends for life in the Pack. Among the many fun activities are the Raingutter Regatta, Pinewood Derby, laser tag, and the fall and spring family campouts.

Den meetings are held twice a month, and Pack meetings (for all scouts in the Pack) once a month. Both meetings typically take place in the Lees Corner School cafeteria. There are also "Go-See-Its" where you and your den take a hike at a park, tour a fire station, visit a museum, or go to any other interesting place. For Tiger scouts, at least one parent or guardian is requested to be present at the den meetings. As scouting is an all-volunteer organization, parents are invited to (but not required to) help organize and run various Pack activities. It's a great way to get involved in and give back to the community!

The registration fee is $65 for the year for new scouts and $60 for existing scouts. This includes a copy of the den handbook, a Pack 1601 T-Shirt, a subscription to the official Scouting magazine Boys Life, and many other activities throughout the year that your scout and and your family can enjoy.

The Pack 1601 handbook is available for download. It outlines the various activities and requirements to become a Cub Scout.

Also see the various resources on the Web for scouting - in particular the Join Cub Scouting website located at http://www.joincubscouting.org/. Also see www.boyscouts-ncac.org for more information.
